The label recently announced that Carencro has reached sales of 150,000 units and continues to grow. The sales have been boosted by Broussard’s latest video, Home, which remains in strong rotation on MTVU, VH1 and CMT.
Broussard, who will perform Nov. 25 at Nitetown in Lafayette, is scheduled to open nine dates with Raitt, including sold-out shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and Memorial Hall at the University of North Carolina. Raitt is touring in support of her latest CD, Souls Alike, which she also produced.
Broussard kicked off his current tour on Oct. 26, shortly after releasing the Bootleg to Benefit the Victims of Hurricane Katrina EP. The release contains five, live bootleg tracks from Broussard’s shows over the past year.
On Sept. 10, he performed in Nashville as part of the ReAct Now: Music & Relief benefit held by MTV, VH1 and CMT. The event raised funds for the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and other aid organizations.
Later that week, Broussard appeared on Larry King Live where he performed Home as part of King’s coverage of the hurricane relief.
Broussard has also established a “Livestrong” style bracelet on his Web site. Proceeds from the bracelet have been going to the newly created Momentary Setback Fund to benefit local Louisiana relief organizations.
