Blue Pie adds SonicBids as Hurricane Healing partner

Opportunity Information

Blue Pie Productions and IdeaFarm are pleased to announce the launch of hurricanehealing.us. Hurricane Healing is a website where you can hear and buy music donated by artists from all over the world. Funds received will aid victims of the 2005 Hurricane Season.

50 cents of every dollar spent on music from Hurricane Healing goes directly to The Salvation Army in the U.S. and will be used to assist those affected by hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Wilma and all the other storms of the 2005 Hurricane Season. 20 cents goes to the rights holders of each track and, if they choose, that too can go to charity. The remaining 30 cents of each dollar is used for project administration.

Hurricane Healing is built on a ‘digital platform” and is a highly efficient way to sell and distribute music. This is what enables Hurricane Healing to donate half of every dollar generated. While buying music online isn’t new, what is new here is that Hurricane Healing is using the same simple, proven business model to raise much needed funds globally. Initially, music will be sold online through the MSN Network with iTunes and other digital distribution retailers coming online in the coming weeks. The hope is that the gift of music that heals will be a popular one in the U.S. and all over the world this Holiday Season.

Major Eda Hokom, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army in Sacramento, California says, “It is a privilege and a blessing to see companies such as Blue Pie Productions and IdeaFarm reach out across the world to help others in need. Hurricane Healing funds will impact many lives, and assist The Salvation Army to continue its ongoing work with the survivors of such devastation. Whether it is a sandwich, a hot meal, clothing, a safe nights rest, a hug, a listening ear, an encouraging word, a prayer, assistance with finding a new job and home - your monetary support is invaluable. Thank You.”

Already there are more than 200 artists on board and the list is growing daily. We have some of the best artists from Africa and Australia with many more coming in from the USA and Canada daily. To date, artists include: Janice-Marie, Eric Bibb, The Frames, The Angels, Tarmac Adam, The Scoldees, Gordon Waller, Mogul, Sahra, and Australia's Hurricane Healing Ambassador, James Blundell. Hurricane Healing is also in discussions with Keb' Mo' and many other U.S., Australian and international artists.

U.S. Ambassador for the project is Grammy Winner, Janice-Marie Johnson. Janice-Marie has a very personal reason for being involved in the Hurricane Healing project, her uncle, 85 years old and blind, was one of the poor souls left behind in New Orleans and is still listed as “missing”.

Janice-Marie say’s “I am honored to be involved with the Hurricane Healing project. My hope is that other artists will join me and the many others already working with Hurricane Healing and together we will build an exciting online community that helps support the very good work being done on the ground by the Salvation Army.”

As the huge clean-up effort on Wilma begins, so does the healing process - a global call for artists has gone out, artists are responding and the Hurricane Healing website is now ‘live’ at www.hurricanehealing.us

Aussie Blues star Ash Grunwald looks to summer of shows

Ash looks forward to a summer of shows

from YourGuide.com.au

ON FRIDAY, January 6, Ash Grunwald will be performing at the Tathra Hotel.
Doors open at 8.00pm and tickets are $12.

Ash's support will be Danni Carr and Jez.

After the success of 2005, Ash Grunwald is looking forward with relish to 2006.

2005 saw Ash take out the coveted "Album Of The Year at the Australian Blues Awards, for "I Don't Believe"; take over the reins as host of Triple J's "Roots N All" show; receive stellar reviews across the country, as well as picking up an ARIA nomination for Best Blues and Roots Album for his latest offering Live At The Corner.

He has also took out three awards at the 2005 MBAS VIC/TAS awards.

The year also saw Ash perform at festivals all over the country, including Falls, Cockatoo Island, Byron Bay, Apollo Bay, Fremantle, Port Fairy, Margaret River and Melbourne, and complete his first trip to Europe, performing at festivals in Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg.

2006 will include the release of a new album (probably around September), which Ash is trying to find time to record with seven tracks already written, plus return to Europe during our winter to again perform at major festivals.

Of course, Ash also plans to take time out for another surfing trip to Indonesia with well known surfer Mark Rastovich, which may be filmed for another project the good friends are working on.

But, in the meantime, Ash is looking forward to a summer full of shows across the country.

Don't miss him.

Support on the tour are Danni Carr and Jez.

Danni Carr is a formidable talent in the new wave of vibrant roots music crossing into a dangerous, dirty, ambient and exciting side of this genre.

Her debut album "47 Miles" takes you on a journey from the gutsy "Knock Your Head", to the scenic wistful landscape of "Old Man" and the rhythmic swagger of "Teach Him Right".

Danni is no stranger to recording or indeed the live circuit.

As founding member of Sweet Painted Ladies she has recorded several albums and toured Australia and the USA.

Both on record and live Danni has carved a reputation as a dynamic and accomplished artist.

She plays a mean harmonica, wild guitar and has a voice that takes you to the intended places of her songs.

Jez hails from Byron Bay in the beautiful north coast of NSW.

He is a hard working guitarist/singer/song-writer, and passionate live performer. Jez is driven by a devotion to rythym and melodic experimentation. Percussive guitar, stomp-box and strong smokey vocals make for a big, full sound from this dymanic and intimate performer.

Jez has supported a wealth of Australian bands including: Midnight Oil, The Waifs, The John Butler Trio, Renee Geyer, Tex Perkins, Mick Hart, The Beautiful Girls and more.

He has appeared at Victoria's Queenscliff Festival, Brisbane's Valley Fiesta, and Byron Bay's Blues and Roots Festival.

To date, Jez has released two full-length cds (Jez and Pickles Hinder Slumber).

Australia's Living End still fuelling teen spirit

Living End sweat it out

Jane Metlikovec, HeraldSun.Nerws.com.au

16dec05

STALWART Victorian rockers the Living End yesterday showed a sweaty Melbourne crowd why they have been at the top of Australian music for almost a decade.

More than 2000 black-clad teens and long-time fans braved 30C heat for the band's free Federation Square show, broadcast on Channel V.
More than half a dozen hits were rolled out over the hour-long show, including Second Solution, Roll On, West End Riot, and new hit, What's On Your Radio?

Singer/guitarist Chris Cheney showed the experience of years at the microphone.

Cheney did not bat an eyelid or miss a beat when fans flocked on to the stage during one of Australia's best known rock anthems, Prisoner of Society.

He even let some wayward fans sing along with him as security guards battled to remove them from the stage.

But the concert almost did not happen, with security guards threatening to shut it Ldown after more than a dozen people fell over in the crowd crush during support act Rogue Traders.

Camberwell woman Dominique Honrado rushed her two children, 7, and 9, from primary school to Federation Square for the event.

"They just loved it. We have been following the Living End for a long time," Ms Honrado, who is in her 30s, said.

"It's fabulous that it's free because it's great to bring the kids to something like this, which fully furthers their music education."
