Artist Marco Esu introduces new scores and new compositions

After a period of hush and job dedicated to the composition, the artist Marco Esu introduces in his web site a particular series of scores and new compositions, written for several instruments and available integrally to all person who can use the web.

Having dedicated as well as time to the several studys of instruments like the guitar, violin and the piano, between which an instrument that have inspired the melodys and that today it has carried the artist to introduce its compositions, for many reasons these compositions will not be publish to you in CD or other phonographic means and therefore will remain always accessible to the public one from a written aspect, that is in scores. The songs that characterized all can be had through the page web "download" of the site www.marcoesu.com, that it concurs to open a window in which all will be able to be visualized the pages and possibly they will be able to be printed.

The titles of the songs are several and many particular, as an example "a Solène" or "il sogno d'una Donna", others instead "Amare" or "Triste", in order then to arrive to minuetto from the title it "Angy+Hola", the characters are several and passing from the classic atmospheres, which are always present in music of the artist and beyond to these classic shapes small are noticed references to the jazz and music of the south-America, which inspires from years the melodie of Marco.

As first page will notice a beautiful sunset, a particular a lot attractive, in a half-hidden sun from spring clouds, with the nearly divine colors of a Sardinian and charming sky like a poema, all this is that helps the artist to write, to create and gives the possibility to see the colors to put in music; even if, it is obvious that the feminine figure is a fundamental part for the inspiration of the artist, in fact, already in others its you work, already introduces to you also in past, the feminine figure is one main member in the artistic vision of Marco, a way in order to render homage to that the Women can give the man. That it can be said of the artist is that it too much loves not to be present in the mass media of mass as the TV, but is also true that it has intentionally created this series of compositions also in order to give who loves the reading of music an other way in more gives to see notes written, as also who loves that one of the literature or that one of who loves the painting and in this way the interpretation of the melodys is pure free also, than being written not damage that a base of that it will play in the hands of the interpreters.

Hugh Masekela to appear at Kalalu World Music Festival in St. Lucia this December

Attention Fans of World Music, be sure to mark December 1st - 4th on your calendars! On those dates the Kalalu World Music festival will make its debut in St. Lucia. Plans for this exciting event were announced Tuesday September 13th at SOB’s, New York’s home for the music, by festival director Adrian Augier and Lorine Charles St. Jules of the St. Lucia Tourist Board.

The Kalalu festival takes its name from that uniquely Caribbean dish whose main ingredient, callaloo leaves was brought from Africa in the 17th century. It is only natural then that given the influence of the motherland that African Artists from Senegal to South Africa will be a key ingredient in the festival line up. Caribbean music Latin, Creole and West Indian, has in turn inspired modern African artists so the festival offers a unique opportunity to hear the musical cross currents interact.

Friday’s Show will offer the spectacular voices of Jose Alberto “El Canario” and Guinean Sekouba “Bambino” Diabate. Bambino was born into a griot family and has become not only the most popular singer in his country but one of the great voices of all Africa. He is best known outside of Guinea for his work with the popular Afro-Latino super group Africando. Martin Sinnock of africasounds.com says of Bambino “He is desperately proud of his country’s rich musical tradition, but at the same time keen to present his music in a contemporary and very internationally appealing manner.” Bambino performed a short set of Mande praise song, at the SOBs opening, joined by the Cameroonian-born, New York based songstress Kaissa.

Idrissa Diop of Senegal and Haitian Emeline Michel, La Reine de la Chanson Creole (Queen of Haitian Song), headline the opening night Thursday, December 1st.

On Friday Cuban legends Orquestra Sensaccion, who first performed in 1953 and will bring the classic rhythms of the island, charanga, cha cha cha, rhumba and more to the stage.

Australia's Film Headquarters team up with Presidents of the USA for world's first cellphone music video

This story graciously lifted from the website of the Presidents of the United States of America, PresidentsRock.com

Australian production company, Film Headquarters has made an innovative music video for the Presidents of the United States of America, for their Australian single “Some Postman”. This is the first music video in the world to be shot using mobile phones.

“Some Postman” is currently on Australia's Channel V (as “Clip of the Week” last week), ABC, Rage, Video Hits, VH1 and national and regional radio networks as the band prepare to launch their album "Love Everybody" in Australia in October, backed up by an Australian tour.

The music video was filmed in Seattle in just one day using a plethora of Sony Ericsson mobile video phones. The content was then blue–toothed to a Mac and composed like a jigsaw puzzle to form the basis of the edit.

The director of the video, Grant Marshall from Film Headquarters, said he was very excited when Presidents of the USA agreed to this idea. He came up with the idea after the company's creative team lamented how budgets for Australian music videos were far lower than those for international clips. Producer Nick Wolff said "We joked that budgets were getting so small that the next thing we'd be doing is shooting on a mobile phone."

Which is exactly what they did.

“We came up with this idea 18 months ago but couldn’t find a band that would embrace the risk and vision. PUSA loved the concept and were brave enough to undertake the risk. This was a fantastic experience for all of us. The band was fabulous,” he added.

“The result is great and the look reminiscent of the movies available on Quicktime in the 90s. The funniest part of the shoot was to see a mobile phone sitting on a tripod-it’s quite a sight. With mobile phone camera resolutions doubling every few years, people will probably look back and say this idea was ‘so 2005’,” said Mr Marshall.

During the production of the music video, over 12 angles were pieced together to make up one composition or shot. The footage recorded by the phones was 1/3000 the quality of standard broadcast. The majority of the footage was shot with the band performing at half time as the phones could not handle the quick movements and as a result, could be blocky and compressed. The format used by the phone camera is 3gp.

The video can be seen at FilmHeadquarters.com.au

ARIA's Australian Music Prize offers $25,000 for best album award

AUSTRALIA'S finest album of the year will be recognised with a new award called the Australian Music Prize.

The prize is inspired by Britain's Mercury Music Prize, which awards outstanding, adventurous work and has provided a huge boost in sales and profile to its winners.

The Australian award — $25,000 in cash donated by the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia — is a further incentive for struggling musicians after successful independent artists John Butler and the Hilltop Hoods set up their own grant schemes this year.

The judging process will be broader than the ARIA Awards' album of the year, which is generally limited to big sellers. Entrants do not need to be ARIA members and adventurous sounds will be encouraged.

EMI managing director and Phonographic Performance Company of Australia chairman John O'Donnell wants artists across all genres to submit entries: "Our judging criteria is not related to sales or fashion, but to quality songs and performance."

Read full article by Patrick Donovan at TheAge.com.au

Albums must be made by Australian citizens and released in 2005. It costs $50 to enter.

A panel of 50 judges — music critics, record store staff, established artists and music promoters — will whittle entries down to eight then announce the winner at a ceremony in March.

Entries open on October 3 — for more information go to TheAmp2005.com.au
