Ash looks forward to a summer of shows
from YourGuide.com.au
ON FRIDAY, January 6, Ash Grunwald will be performing at the Tathra Hotel.
Doors open at 8.00pm and tickets are $12.
Ash's support will be Danni Carr and Jez.
After the success of 2005, Ash Grunwald is looking forward with relish to 2006.
2005 saw Ash take out the coveted "Album Of The Year at the Australian Blues Awards, for "I Don't Believe"; take over the reins as host of Triple J's "Roots N All" show; receive stellar reviews across the country, as well as picking up an ARIA nomination for Best Blues and Roots Album for his latest offering Live At The Corner.
He has also took out three awards at the 2005 MBAS VIC/TAS awards.
The year also saw Ash perform at festivals all over the country, including Falls, Cockatoo Island, Byron Bay, Apollo Bay, Fremantle, Port Fairy, Margaret River and Melbourne, and complete his first trip to Europe, performing at festivals in Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg.
2006 will include the release of a new album (probably around September), which Ash is trying to find time to record with seven tracks already written, plus return to Europe during our winter to again perform at major festivals.
Of course, Ash also plans to take time out for another surfing trip to Indonesia with well known surfer Mark Rastovich, which may be filmed for another project the good friends are working on.
But, in the meantime, Ash is looking forward to a summer full of shows across the country.
Don't miss him.
Support on the tour are Danni Carr and Jez.
Danni Carr is a formidable talent in the new wave of vibrant roots music crossing into a dangerous, dirty, ambient and exciting side of this genre.
Her debut album "47 Miles" takes you on a journey from the gutsy "Knock Your Head", to the scenic wistful landscape of "Old Man" and the rhythmic swagger of "Teach Him Right".
Danni is no stranger to recording or indeed the live circuit.
As founding member of Sweet Painted Ladies she has recorded several albums and toured Australia and the USA.
Both on record and live Danni has carved a reputation as a dynamic and accomplished artist.
She plays a mean harmonica, wild guitar and has a voice that takes you to the intended places of her songs.
Jez hails from Byron Bay in the beautiful north coast of NSW.
He is a hard working guitarist/singer/song-writer, and passionate live performer. Jez is driven by a devotion to rythym and melodic experimentation. Percussive guitar, stomp-box and strong smokey vocals make for a big, full sound from this dymanic and intimate performer.
Jez has supported a wealth of Australian bands including: Midnight Oil, The Waifs, The John Butler Trio, Renee Geyer, Tex Perkins, Mick Hart, The Beautiful Girls and more.
He has appeared at Victoria's Queenscliff Festival, Brisbane's Valley Fiesta, and Byron Bay's Blues and Roots Festival.
To date, Jez has released two full-length cds (Jez and Pickles Hinder Slumber).
